Transaction Types
Basecoin — a public transfer. Sender, receiver and amount all readable by anyone, like Bitcoin.
Stealth — pays a one-time address and blinds the amount, so the value and who received it are hidden. The outputs it spends are still named on chain.
RingCT — fully shielded. Amounts blinded and the input signed against a ring of decoys, so the source cannot be pinned to one output.
Zerocoin — the legacy pool, still about 61% of all VEIL. Spending one cannot be traced to its mint, but denominations are public, so the amount is not private.
Figure size = transaction vSize, not amount. Amounts are hidden on a privacy chain,
so nobody can draw them. The one exception is a zerocoin mint, whose denomination is
public: those walkers wear a sealed helmet and are sized by the amount they minted, 10 through
10000, with the figure printed above them. Walking speed = fee priority.
Where They Arrive
The colour above is what a transaction wrote. The door it comes through is what it
spent, which is a separate fact, so the two often disagree and that is the point.
The house — spent a plain output. Outpoint and value both public.
The portal — spent a blinded (CT) output. You can name the outpoint, not its value. Mostly used by RingCT walkers, since blinded coin is usually spent into RingCT.
The veil — spent a ring. The source cannot be pinned to one output.
Materialises — spent zerocoin. A null outpoint: there is no previous output anywhere to point at.
So a cyan Veilian walking out of the house is not a mistake. It wrote hidden outputs and paid
for them with coin anyone can follow.

Why this matters
A privacy chain is the one place a block explorer can most easily flatter itself. It is
easy to badge anything shielded looking as private and let the number climb.
This one refuses to: it separates what a transaction hid from what it merely
wrote, shows the ring size protecting each spend, says when a shielded
transaction also paid out in the clear, and admits that a zerocoin spend publishes
its denominations. A privacy figure you cannot audit is marketing. The point of
watching your own node is that you do not have to take anyone's word for it,
including ours.
